U.S. govt expels Venezuelan consul for links to terrorist attack plans against US targets

Lapatilla.com is reporting that, by means of a diplomatic note from the US Department of State the U.S. government has declared "persona non grata" the Consul General of Venezuela in the city of Miami, and given her 72 hours to leave the United States. The diplomatic note is dated January 6, 2012.

In a communication with lapatilla.com, the note translates as read:

The State Department informed the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela that according to Article 23 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, the State Department says Mrs. Livia Antonieta Noguera Acosta, Consul General of Venezuela in Miami, Florida, as a persona non grata. As such, she must exit the United States 72 hours after receipt of the diplomatic note.

Before her departure, the Consul General Acosta should return all documents issued by the State Department to the Office of the Chief of Protocol and a Foreign Missions Office.
