Hugo Chavez announces another surgery for cancer 'in coming days'

In a televised address, Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez announced Tuesday afternoon that he would be undergoing another surgery "in the coming days," though he still denies that his cancer has metastasized.

Chavez also revealed that he had traveled to Cuba on February 18th to undergo medical tests.

The ailing autocrat also stated that a "lesion" had been detected where he had undergone surgery previously, but that it was not a return of his cancer.

However, unconfirmed reports from numerous sources are indicating that Chavez is suffering from a Stage IV Sigmoid Duke C adenocarcinoma, and cannot undergo chemotherapy because of an abscess in the tumor.

Reports are also indicating that mistakes were made in the first surgery, performed by a Cuban doctor, and the tumor had fistulized and begun to spread.

Chavez has claimed that his cancer was cured, though most analysts doubt the veracity of the claims.
